Charity Fair “Christmas Candle”
Amazing day in the Caritas Poltava family! On December 25, the charity fair “Christmas Candle” was held, the purpose of which was to collect funds for children affected by the war. All the money raised will be used for workshops and classes at the Caritas Poltava children’s center.
A special day for every employee of the charity fund and local resident of Poltava, because on this Sunday the annual charity fair was held, where everyone was awaited by an entertaining program: a concert by Andrii Didenko and Artem Loik, an exhibition and sale of handmade products, delicious food and hot drinks.
The event began at 1:00 p.m. near Theater Square on Gogolya Street 17, where the New Year tree is traditionally installed, and neither rain nor three air alarms prevented us from doing a good deed, everyone was as one! Once again, we are convinced that even in the most difficult, stressful situations, Ukrainians are able to maintain their optimism.
The attention of local residents was drawn to the main stage, from which fiery and lyrical songs were played by famous participants of the talent show “Voice” and “X-Factor” Andriy Didenko and Artem Loik. Their compositions were dedicated to events in Ukraine.
Near the stage, employees of the charitable foundation were selling New Year’s products – these are the works of children of the “Child Friendly Space” project. Christmas decorations, fashionable shopping bags, Christmas wreaths – all the items were made by hand.
Visitors were offered a variety of goodies in the form of cookies, gingerbread, cupcakes and waffles, skillfully made by girls from the Caritas Poltava humanitarian office. There were exclusive delicacies: spicy sauces, sun-dried tomatoes, pickled mushrooms, and makitras of traditional dumplings. Тea and coffee helped people warm up in cold weather.
One of the tents sold unique cosmetic products made from natural materials and even small Christmas trees. But the main attribute of the fair were candles. At 4:00 p.m., anyone interested could join the flash mob and light a Christmas candle, having purchased it from the employees of the charitable foundation.
A candle symbolizes light in the darkness of life, illumination, and nourishing power.
The most significant event of the fair – a flash mob took place with the participation of about 300 people in the center of Theater Square. Together with hundreds of townspeople, we lit a Christmas candle, forming a big heart.
May our heart, which has lit up to the sky, warm the heart of every child, may that blessed light shine in every home and bring us all closer to victory!
We must be united more than ever so that our goal of helping children is realized, so that together we meet that star that shines on the whole world!
