Excursion in the Botanical Garden

As part of the “Children and War” project, pupils of Caritas Poltava had the opportunity to visit the botanical garden.

The Botanical Garden is located in the center of Poltava and is one of the most stunning natural wonders with unique plants and a greenhouse where heat-loving plants bloom all year round.

As you know, merging with nature promotes psychological recovery and relaxation, which is necessary for IDP children. So, thanks to the Caritas Poltava “Children and War” project, they walked through the territory of the botanical garden and replenished their knowledge about the amazing world of plants together with the tour guide.

Under the glass roof of the greenhouse, children had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the “Poltava” tropics and subtropics. A collection of plants from arid regions of Africa and South America is presented here. Numerous cacti with bright fruits and yuccas among stone blocks imitate the desert, agaves arouse interest in their appearance and biological properties.

It is worth noting that the collection of plants is constantly replenished with new species, and visitors are even offered to take sprouts of plants and flowers.

Throughout the excursion, the children showed great interest in the unusual vegetation, listened to the curator with delight, asked a lot of questions, took pictures and joked. They liked this type of leisure.

Caritas for children!
