60 IDP families found a new home!

Thanks to the housing rental program from Caritas Poltava, about 60 IDP families who lived in shelters (kindergartens, schools) moved to cozy rented apartments.

Since the beginning of autumn, the “Caritas Poltava” charitable foundation has thoroughly addressed the issue of housing for internally displaced persons. The projects “Modernization of collective centers” and “Compensation of communal services” were aimed at improving the living conditions of IDPs in new places.

One of the urgent requests was the search for new houses, because a significant number of displaced people settled in shelters (kindergartens, schools, sanatoriums, office premises), where there were minimal amenities and insufficient space. Families of 4 people with children were accommodated in one tiny room with a lack of household items. A common kitchen, a bathroom that needs to be shared with a significant number of people, a small sleeping place, all this causes considerable discomfort.

With the help of the housing rental project, IDPs were able to move from the shelters to comfortable rented apartments. This project provides for the monthly payment of a rented apartment for 6 months, the payment of utilities and financial assistance for each family member!

About 60 families have already moved to new apartments and are sharing their impressions of participating in the project.
